There's a lot in the media at the moment about the economic changes being experienced around the world.
And it's all too easy to get caught up in the hype and negativity and perhaps even become mentally paralysed by it all.
If that describes how you're feeling, here are some tips to help you overcome it:
1) Realise that the reason you're feeling the way you are is mostly because of your thoughts about the current situation.
You haven't accepted what "is" and it's your resistence to what "is" that is
causing the paralysis / fear. So accept the situation and confirm that you're OK right now in the present moment.
After all the "now" is the only thing that you ever have to cope with.
2) Your thoughts are projecting one or more future negative scenarios and this is causing the discomfort. You can't ever know with any accuracy what
will happen in the future so this is pointless.
Sure, you need to plan and take appropriate action NOW to help the future evolve as positively as possible but you don't want to spend your time thinking and worrying about what may or may not happen.
Whenever you realise that your mind is in a future projection, bring your mind gently back to the present moment.
3) Involve yourself in productive activity now.
If you work for someone else, what extra value can you add to the work you
do.
If you work for yourself, what strategies can you implement to improve business? What areas of waste can be reduced?
If you're retired or unwaged, what extra voluntary work can you do? Focusing on helping those less fortunate will bring back some perspective.
4) What positive, life-enhancing books and other materials can you read and
use right now to improve yourself?
5) Spend some time reflecting on what you can be grateful for right now.
6) What the world needs now is more people who are calm and centred in the
midst of these changes.
So, make sure that you spend your meditations focusing on positive, life-
enhancing outcomes. (See below if you need help with your meditation.)
Just as a final note, I just want to let you know that the majority of people,
myself included, also find times like the current situation challenging.
We all need to realise that just like the weather, there are seasons in most
things in life. We've had a very long economic Spring and Summer and it
appears that we're in Autumn now.
So, you need to act accordingly. You might need to "put on a jumper" and
start focus on what the really important things are in your life.
But don't forget that Spring has never failed to appear!
Keep that in mind and be on the lookout for it when the time is right.
